West London Inclusive Arts Festival 2026

Students from Orminston Queensmill Academy performed amazing original songs at the West London Inclusive Arts Festival at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2026. The West London Inclusive Arts Festival (WLIAF) is an annual celebration championing creativity for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

In Deep had been working with the students, doing songwriting. They had everyone on their feet with their song about being a teenager, singing about hopes, dreams and friendships. They also sang about being a teenager in love and about teenager problems. We were really proud of them.

Original Songs:
⭐Stand Up
⭐Teenager Problems
⭐Love Is In The Air

Matilda Holiday Workshop 2025

During October’s half term, our Holiday Workshop was themed around “Matilda the Musical“ - bringing together Drama, Dance, Music and Art to craft a performance on the final day!

Our 3 day workshop explored Matilda the Musical through combined arts, culminating in a performance - the results were splendid, well done to everyone who took part! The schedule included music therapy & songwriting, art, drama and dance sessions:

  • “Revolting Children” Dance Piece choreographed by Dance Teacher Mel & supported by Drama Teacher Jamie - embracing the rebellion through music, movement and confidence!

  • Older groups crafted an original song in response to the themes around Matilda - around school, dreams and growing up - showcasing their creativity and individuality - the sessions were facilitated by our Music Therapists Emily & Josh - accompanied by students from the Royal College of Music to bring the piece to life

  • “When I Grow Up” & “Naughty” performed as Sing & Sign - supported by Emma our Coordinator, our Music Therapists Emily & Josh and our wonderful volunteers - teaching the different age groups the signs for the songs

  • “Bruce” Drama/Song Scene - featuring the iconic chocolate-cake moment! A playful drama and song scene showing that sometimes even small kids can make big statements; crafted by our Drama Teachers JP & Jamie

This year the films we used for inspiration were “Frozen” and “Beauty and The Beast”.

Every year, we have a weekend over the Autumn Half term holiday, where we focus on a musical, doing lots of different activities, that benefit the children and the parents in our community.

This year it was a double header… of Frozen and Beauty and The Beast.

The activities include, songwriting, arts and crafts, costume making, dance, acting, and it all culminates in a wonderful showcase on the final day. Which you can see above.

We have already been discussing what musical to focus on next year… keep your eyes peeled!

Disney Holiday Workshop 2024

In-Deep’s Trip to The Lion King

In June 2024, In-Deep were delighted to attend a relaxed performance of The Lion King at The Lyceum Theatre. A total of 16 families attended this inspirational performance, packed with music and dance to engage our young people and in a setting suited to their needs.

Many of our young people don’t often get the opportunity to go to the theatre, making this trip both exciting and necessary to such families. One parent expressed, “Although it was relaxed performance, it was not specifically for SEND. But going to the theatre with a group we and our son are familiar with makes it so much easier. We don’t have random people staring at us if our son suddenly screams, because we all know each other from In-Deep’s music therapy sessions. The performance was amazing, we enjoyed it a lot.”

In-Deep extend their deepest gratitude to Murphy Carey for their support, without which In-Deep could not offer these important, enriching theatre trips to our young people.

A Magical Ballet Experience: In-Deep’s Collaboration with the Westminster Foundation

In January 2024, In-Deep were thrilled to share an enriching experience as part of our ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible to all. Thanks to a generous grant from the Westminster Foundation, we had the privilege of organising a special trip for 16 families to witness the mesmerizing performance of Matthew Bourne’s ‘Edward Scissorhands.’

This relaxed performance not only captivated audiences but also provided families, who often face financial constraints or unique needs, an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of ballet. As one grateful family expressed, “Their child was mesmerised,” encapsulating the magic and transformative power of inclusive arts experiences.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Westminster Foundation for their invaluable support, enabling us to create memorable moments and break barriers to access within the arts community. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming initiatives and partnerships, as we continue to champion accessibility, creativity, and community engagement through the arts at In-Deep.

Disney Workshop 2023

We ran our second arts based holiday workshop in the October half term for children with SEND. This year’s theme was Disney with our 3 – 10 year old group doing “The Little Mermaid” and our 11 – 18 year old group doing “The Lion King”.

They did a timetable of activities including art, dance, drama and music and a performance at the end. All of the sessions were run by experienced teachers and therapists with 100% positive feedback from parents and children.

Thank you for the support from John Lyons Charity, Weil Gotshal and Manges LLP and Francis Holland School for Girls.

Greatest Showman Workshop

In July 2022 we ran an exciting creative arts project themed around “The Greatest Showman” where children took part in art, drama, music and dance workshops. See highlights here:

Frozen Trip

On the 3rd of September 2023, In-Deep were joined by 16 families with child or young person with SEND at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, for a live performance of Frozen! The families had an amazing day out, seeing a top West End show.
